What’s on in May?

The summer rush may not be in full swing, but there’s still plenty to keep you entertained! Here’s some of our favourite events taking place…

  • Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival (April 27-May 1): Come and celebrate Scotland’s most famous export at the Whisky Festival. From tasting sessions to a round of golf, there’s a huge array of whisky-themed events taking place across the region. If you like a drop of the golden stuff then make sure you get yourself along to one of the events..
  • Gordon Castle Country Fair and Highland Games, May 20-21: Saturday will pay homage to the Castle’s heyday, focusing on traditional skills, dress, music and agriculture from 1900s – 1940s including rare breeds and Heavy Horses. On Sunday the traditional Highland Games returns and, for the first time, it will host the Scottish 28lb Weight for Distance championships! There will also be terrier racing, gun dog display, falconry and – new for 2017 – the amazing racing pigs!
  • Festival of Museums, Fort George May 19-21: This year, Scotland’s museums and galleries have their biggest calendar of events ever planned for the Festival of Museums weekend from Friday 19 – Sunday 21 May, with a massive 130 events to choose from all across the country! From little ones to big kids, there’s sure to be something for everyone in our packed programme.
