Coronavirus (COVID -19) - Latest News

Coronavirus and Travelling

We are reviewing the latest Government advice on a daily basis and how this could affect your holiday. We will continue to update this page as necessary.

Latest announcement – 23rd September 2020

The government has announced further national measures to address rising cases of coronavirus in Scotland. The following measures are now compulsory and a legal requirement:

The rule of six

From 25th September 2020, in Scotland, it will be against the law for households to mix indoors, unless they are part of a support bubble (1 adult with any dependant children up to the age of 18 joining a household). Children under 12 do not count towards the six in Scotland indoors or outdoors.

So, if you have two different households booked to share the same unit of accommodation, they will no longer be able to do so.  You will be able to stay if you book additional accommodation, but won’t be able to mix on the park or inside the venues.

Up to six people from two different households can meet outdoors.

If you have a booking with us and this applies to you, please call the park on 01343 813262. You are covered by our ‘Holiday with Confidence’ guarantee.

Local Restrictions

Local authorities may also have put in place local restrictions and guidance if Coronavirus outbreaks are high. You can find out more information on the Government website.

On the Park

  • It is now compulsory to wear face masks in all indoor venues, except when seated at a table
  • The bar, restaurants, entertainment venues will fully close at 22:00
  • The bar and restaurants will offer table service only

Coronavirus (COVID-19): local advice and measures

Aberdeen

Following an increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Aberdeen, local restrictions on travel, indoor gatherings between households and the closure of indoor and outdoor hospitality will be introduced in the Aberdeen City local authority area.

Taking effect from 5pm on Wednesday 5 August, people in Aberdeen City are asked not to meet other households indoors or travel more than five miles for leisure or recreational purposes.

In light of these recent lockdown measures, we will not be accepting any new bookings or permitting anyone to access the park from the affected areas until this restriction is removed by the Scottish Government. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to comply with the latest guidance from the Scottish Government.

If you have a booking with us, we will be in contact with you shortly.

Latest announcement – 24th June 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

Following the latest announcement from the Scottish Government, we will now be able to reopen for holiday makers from Friday 10th July.   Our central facilities will be subject to further restrictions until the rules relax on 15th July.

Our shared shower, toilet and washing-up facilities will remain closed for July and August so we are still not able to except any camping bookings or touring bookings if you do not have self-contained facilities in your caravan or motorhome.  We understand that this will be disappointing for some and it is not a decision we have taken lightly. We always place great importance on the cleanliness of our facilities, the safety of our guests and the quality of your holiday experience in normal times. Given the enhanced frequency and duration of cleaning requirements and risks involved to both our valued customers and our team we have taken this difficult decision to put everyone’s safety before the financial benefit of the business.

We are delighted that we now have a confirmed reopening date and we look forward to welcoming you at Silver Sands soon.

Full details about reopening and the safety measures we are putting in place can be found on here.

Latest announcement – 23rd June 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

Following the latest Government update we are delighted to announce that we will be reopening our parks to holiday makers on the 17th July 2020.

We will be opening our parks in a phased manner to ensure safety remains our primary focus. Initially that means our shared touring facilities will remain closed during the school summer holidays and we can only accept bookings from tourers and motorhomes which have their own facilities on board.

We are really excited that we have the go-ahead to reopen and are looking forward to welcoming you to the park very soon.

Full details about reopening and the safety measures we are putting in place can be found on here.

Latest announcement – 16th June 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

Although we are still waiting for final confirmation of dates for when we can reopen our parks from the Scottish Government, our confidence is growing that it will be fairly soon. Although this is still all subject to change, we are trying to make a plan which we wanted to share with you.

At the moment we expect the Scottish Government to allow holiday parks in Scotland to reopen on the 15th July. Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to delay opening our self-catering accommodation on our parks to holiday makers until the 17th July.

Unfortunately, we don’t expect to be able to open our shared touring facilities until a much later date. Our touring pitches will only reopen for tourers and motorhomes which have their own toilet and wash facilities during July and August.

We know that this will be disappointing if you were due to holiday with us before then, but we need to ensure we give ourselves time to comply with all the new health and safety protocols we will need to implement prior to reopening. Government has not published the guidance yet and since your safety and the safety of our teams must come first, we will need time to bring our teams back, train them in any new procedures, get the accommodation deep cleaned and make sure our parks are safe and ready to welcome holiday guests.

  • Are you due to arrive before the 17th July?
If you have an existing holiday booked in our self-catering accommodation and were due to arrive before the 17th July, one of our team will be in touch soon to discuss your options and help you find alternative holiday dates.
  • Have you booked a touring or camping pitch in July or August but do not have your own toilet or wash facilities?
If you have a touring or camping holiday booked with us in July and August, and you do not have your own toilet and wash facilities, one of our team will be in touch soon to discuss your options.
  • Do you have an existing holiday booked with a balance payment due?
If you have a holiday booked with us from the 17th July onwards and have a balance payment due, please do not worry about that at the moment, our teams will contact you when the reopening dates have been confirmed.
  • Do you want to make a new holiday booking?
Self-catering accommodation: If you would like to make a new holiday booking with us, we are now taking new bookings from the 17th July onwards.
Touring – If you have your own toilet and washroom facilities you can book a pitch with us from the 17th July.

The new dates for our planned reopening, and exactly what facilities we will be able to offer are dependent on what the Government decides, but we will of course update you when we have further information.

If you would like to speak to one of our team, we are available on the phones, live chat or email. We still have a reduced team working so please bear with us if you struggle to get through. If you email us we will come back to you as quickly as we can.

We can’t wait to welcome you on your holiday and hope it will be very soon!

Latest announcement – 10th June 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

Back in May we updated you to say that our parks would remain closed until the 4th July following the Government announcement of their phased plans to gradually ease lockdown. We are hopeful we will still be able to open around this date so we are extremely busy behind the scenes getting our parks ready for when we get the go ahead from Government.

There is still a lot we don’t know at the moment so we are preparing for all scenarios, from a partial reopening to a full reopening.

All of our individual self-catering accommodation is socially distanced by design. Self-catering at our parks always means your own kitchen, lounge, bedrooms and bathroom facilities. Every accommodation has been deep cleaned and will be deep cleaned between each stay. Every surface you may touch will be sprayed with sanitiser and our sheets; duvet covers and pillows cases are washed at high temperatures in commercial laundries.

We are looking at various options to ensure your stay with us is safe and complies with Government guidance, which may include the introduction of:

  • Contact free check in
  • Social distancing precautions in our shops
  • Takeaway/delivery of food and drink
  • Outside seating areas

We remain optimistic that we will be able to open our self-catering accommodation in July and expect to have more information and guidance from government in the coming weeks. Once we do, we will be writing to you with further details on what to expect during your holiday.

We are taking new holiday bookings from the 6th July and will be keeping all of our 2020 prices the same as they were before we closed. We are already seeing a significant increase in bookings and have put in place a ‘Holiday with Confidence’ guarantee so you can book a holiday with us and have peace of mind. If you have any questions about making a new booking please email us at Holidays@silver-sands.co.uk

We will be ready to welcome you back just as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Latest announcement – 11th May 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

In response to the statement from the Prime Minister on Sunday 10th May which stated that the hospitality industry will not reopen until July at the earliest, our parks will remain closed until the 1st July 2020 at the earliest.

We only have a small team of people working at the moment, but they will contact everyone who has a booking in June, working in arrival date order. Unfortunately, so we can ensure everyone gets a personal call from us as quickly as possible, we will not be able to take incoming calls at this time.

What to do if you have a holiday booked in June?

If you have a holiday booked for arrival in June, one of our team will contact you to discuss your options. The team will contact people in order of their arrival date but everyone with a booking prior to July will be contacted in person. We will work as quickly as we can to contact everyone as soon as possible but please bear with us. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard from us before your arrival date, we will call you and your rights are exactly the same whether that is before or after your arrival date.

When the team get in contact, you will be able to change the date of your holiday (to another 2020 date or for a date in 2021*) or we can issue a credit for a future holiday.

*Subject to the holiday cost being for the same value as the original booking; if you select a date that is more expensive you will need to pay the difference in cost or if the new date is cheaper we will refund the difference

What to do if you have a holiday booked in July or a later date?

At the moment the park is only closed until 1st July. We are hopeful that we will be reopening the park in July and will be ready to welcome you on your holiday. Because we expect the park to be open for your booked holiday dates, we are only amending holidays booked for June at this time. If the situation changes, we will be in touch.

If you have a balance payment due for a future holiday, you do not need to pay the balance at this time. Don’t worry about the usual rules for payment as your holiday booking won’t be affected by non-payment of balances at this time. We will be in touch about payment when the time is right and things are clearer.

Because we need to prioritise June arrivals at the moment, it may take up to 20 days to respond to any emails regarding later bookings.

What to do if you booked via Hoseasons, Sykes or Booking.com?

If your holiday was booked through Hoseasons, Sykes or Booking.com you will need to contact them directly to discuss your booking, unfortunately we are not able to discuss or make any changes to these holidays as they were not booked directly with us.

What to do if you booked via Pitch-up?

If you have only paid a deposit for your Pitch-up booking you will need to get in touch with Pitch-up directly in order to discuss your options.

If you have paid for your Pitch-up holiday in full; we will be in touch to discuss your options, so you do not need to do anything.

We know that this is a difficult time for everyone, but our team are working as hard as they can to contact you as quickly as possible so please bear with us and be kind to them when they call.

We miss all our owners and holiday makers but it’s so important that we all stay home, protect each other and protect the NHS. We will be here to welcome you back to our parks and promise you a holiday to remember when we do.

Latest announcement – 28th April 2020

Update from Bridge Leisure

We understand that if you have a holiday booked with us in June, you may be getting worried about what happens next.

The Government are expected to make a further announcement around the 7th May about the current social distancing restrictions. Once they have made that announcement, we will have a better idea of what that means for your June Holiday booking.

We understand this is frustrating but until we have the vital update from the Government, we are unable to provide any definite answers about your holiday.

If you are concerned that your balance payment is due, please don’t worry. You don’t need to make any further payments to us at the moment and this won’t affect your booking. We will post an update here and on our social media channels as soon as the Government have given their update.

If you would like to change your June holiday date now, please email Holidays@silver-sands.co.uk

We miss you all and will be here to welcome you on your holiday when it is safe to do so.

For now, stay home, stay safe and we will be in touch soon.

Latest announcement – 3rd April 2020

As you’re aware, due to Government advice, our parks are effectively closed for the foreseeable future to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests, owners and team.

This has meant that we have retained a very small number of essential staff on the park to ensure the safety and security of the park. Our support office are also now working from home on reduced hours. We’re all adjusting to our new work environments, but as I’m sure you can appreciate is a little challenging at times, as we’re sure it is for everyone else too.

We have a small team working from home to process changes to bookings during the closure period and responding to social media, however, it is taking us much longer than we would like to get back to our guests.

Rest assured that we will be in touch with you as soon as we can.

We promise that we are doing all we can to help you all as quickly as we can. Thank you for your understanding and please continue to bear with us.

Please listen to the Government advice, stay home and stay safe.

Latest announcement – 24th March 2020

We are sorry but following the Prime Minister’s statement last night our parks are now closed until further notice.

If you have a holiday booked with us which starts between now and the end of May, we will be in touch as soon as we can, but it may take a while as we are working in order or arrival date, so please don’t call or email us at this time. You will be given the option to either move your holiday date or to have a credit on your account for a future booking with us.

These are alarming times for us all and we are so sorry to be issuing this update. Regrettably we have no choice.

Please listen to the Government advice, stay home and stay safe.

Latest announcement – 22nd March 2020

We’re sorry

Following the Government advice on Friday, we took the decision to close all of our facilities with immediate effect. We have now had time to consider that advice in full and in view of the current situation we have taken the difficult decision to stop taking any future holiday bookings for dates between now and the end of May. We will also be rearranging all current holiday bookings due for arrival from tomorrow until the end of May.

We realise that this is an uncertain and unsettling time for everyone and for those affected, we know you will be disappointed you can’t take your holiday at the moment. However, we are taking the Governments advice about non-essential travel, social distancing and isolation very seriously and to ensure the safety of our holidaymakers, owners and teams, we feel we have no choice but to suspend bookings and holidays for a period of time.

So that we can manage this as efficiently and quickly as possible we are not accepting any incoming calls. We will contact all booked holiday makers in order of arrival dates to help you move your holiday dates or give you a credit note for a future booking. It might take a while to get to everyone but rest assured, we will be in touch as quickly as we can.

We have been genuinely touched by all the kind messages of support and care from our owners and holiday makers during last week and thank you for your continuing patience and understanding. This is a difficult time for all of us, including our teams who are working around the clock to try and help people, so please be kind when talking to them.

We wish you and your family all the very best and hope to welcome you to our park in the not too distant future.

We are still taking new holiday bookings for dates from the 1st June onwards.

Bridge Leisure Parks

The situation regarding Coronavirus is constantly changing, however, if you have any urgent questions about your booking please email Holidays@silver-sands.co.uk. We are requesting that guests wishing to contact us to only get in touch if your holiday is due to start with us between now and 30th April 2020.  This will allow us to help and support guests who are due to arrive imminently.

Latest UK government announcement – 17th March 2020

Coronavirus, COVID-19 – What you need to know

We understand that you may be feeling unsettled given the rapidly changing situation around Coronavirus.

Due to increased demand, our park phone lines, customer services team and social media channels are very busy and we appreciate your patience while we respond to messages. To save guests waiting so long, we are requesting that guests wishing to talk to us, kindly only contact us if your holiday is within the next 7 days. This will allow us to deal with guests with imminent breaks first.

We will be contacting all guests who have a holiday booked between now and the end of April as quickly as we can.

Thank you again for your patience at this difficult time.

Is the park open?

Our parks are open for business.  At present, our facilities are open and can be used subject to the limitations on numbers and customers observing recommended distancing.

The safety of our guests, owners and team is our number one priority.

We have very strict cleaning procedures in place in all holiday home accommodation and in communal areas and have increased the number of sanitising antibacterial/antiviral dispensers around our parks.  Hygiene posters are also on display across the park.

The benefit of our parks is that you have your own holiday home to enjoy during your stay, so it’s possible to separate yourself from other holidaymakers, should you wish. The great news is that you’ll have all your home comforts whilst still being on holiday.

What to do if you feel unwell whilst at the park

Should you or any member of your party begin to feel unwell with Coronavirus symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing) during our stay, please inform reception immediately by calling the park phone number. Please do not go to reception in person to report your symptoms.

We then suggest that you follow government advice and leave the park straight away in order to return home to self-isolate.

It is important that you do not visit reception or any public area on the park.  Please leave your key in your accommodation.  Further information about self-isolation can be found here.

I have a holiday booking, but am worried about the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We understand that you might be concerned about your holiday.  To give you some extra reassurance and to reduce the financial impact to you, for guests due to arrive between now until 30th April 2020, we are offering:

We advise that you check the Gov.uk website for all the up to date information, particularly if you have recently travelled to or from higher risk countries click here

Changes to the booking made by us:

If anything were to change regarding your holiday we will be in touch. If we can no longer offer the holiday booked or we need to cancel the following will apply:

  • Replacement holiday (same as booked)
  • Replacement holiday of less value than booked (where we would refund the difference)
  • Replacement holiday of a higher value than booked (where you would pay the difference in cost)

The situation regarding Coronavirus is constantly changing, however, if you have any urgent questions about your booking please email Holidays@silver-sands.co.uk.
